Terms of Use
Last updated: 18 July 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Dawnscape ("we", "us"), based in the United Kingdom, and govern your use of the Minaret app. By creating an account or using Minaret you accept them. If you downloaded Minaret from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where these terms grant you more, these terms prevail.
What Minaret is
Minaret helps you track the five daily prayers, protects your prayer windows with focus tools, and lets you share limited progress with a private circle of companions. Prayer times shown in the app are calculated estimates based on your location and the calculation method you choose. They may differ from the times observed by your local mosque or community, and small variations are normal. Minaret is a practical aid. It does not provide religious rulings, and nothing in the app should be treated as scholarly or legal religious advice.
Your account
You need an account, created with Sign in with Apple or Google, to use Minaret. You're responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
Subscriptions
Minaret's features require a paid subscription, purchased through your App Store account. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device's Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and amounts already paid are not refunded for the remainder of that period except where the law requires. Prices are shown before you purchase and may change for future periods with notice. Payments and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms; refund requests go through reportaproblem.apple.com.
The focus tools
App Lock and Scan Alarm are accountability aids you choose to enable. They rely on Apple system features and on permissions you grant, and they can be affected by iOS settings, system restrictions, low-power states, device conditions, or removing those permissions. They are designed to make it harder to drift, not impossible, and we don't guarantee that an app can never be opened or an alarm never silenced. Don't rely on Scan Alarm as your only alarm for anything critical, and don't rely on App Lock as a parental control or security measure.
Acceptable use
Use Minaret only for its intended purpose and only as permitted by these terms. In particular, you must not: impersonate others or misrepresent who you are to gain someone's companion access; use nudges or companion features to harass anyone; attempt to access another person's data or interfere with another person's use of the service; probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the service; copy, modify, decompile, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of the app except where the law expressly permits; use automated means to access the service; or resell, rent, or commercially exploit the app. We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules or abuse the service.
Your content and our rights
You keep all rights to the information you put into Minaret. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, sync, process and display it as needed to operate and improve the service, for example showing your daily progress to companions you've accepted. The app itself, including its name, design, artwork, features and code, belongs to Dawnscape and is protected by intellectual property law; we grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use it on Apple devices you own or control. No rights are granted except those expressly stated here.
Feedback
If you send us suggestions, ideas or feedback, you agree we may use them without restriction or compensation. That way we can keep improving Minaret without complicated paperwork.
Service changes and availability
We're continually improving Minaret and may add, change, suspend, or remove features, or discontinue the service, at any time. We aim for reliable service but Minaret is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows. Sync, notifications, and companion features depend on third-party services that are outside our full control, and we are not responsible for their interruptions or failures.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dawnscape will not be liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of data, or losses arising from events outside our reasonable control, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using Minaret and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as intellectual property, feedback, and limitation of liability, survive termination.
Assignment
We may assign or transfer this agreement, including as part of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer of the app to another entity, provided your rights under it are not reduced. You may not assign this agreement.
General
These terms are the entire agreement between you and us about Minaret. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. If we don't enforce a provision, that isn't a waiver of our right to do so later.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere, you keep any mandatory consumer protections of your own country, and disputes may be brought in your local courts where the law requires.
Changes to these terms
If we make meaningful changes we'll update this page and the date above, and where appropriate let you know in the app. Continuing to use Minaret after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
